How it works
The whole point is that you should not have to learn anything new. Here is everything that happens, from signing up to dinner on the table.
Step 1
You tell me a little about yourself
You go through eight short screens. One question at a time, large buttons, no long forms. I ask about:
- Your name and which mobile number the messages should go to
- What you cannot tolerate. Allergens are kept out of your plans entirely
- Whether you eat a particular way, and whether there is something you simply do not like
- How many you cook for, so the quantities are right
- What you want to achieve
It takes two minutes. Everything can be changed later, and changes take effect from the next meal plan.
Step 2
Monday morning the message arrives
Henriette
Monday 7 February
Hello Kari! Your meal plan for week 42 is ready. Dinners, recipes and the shopping list: henriettehagen.no/u/8f3a2d1c Have a good week. Best wishes, Henriette
You tap the link and the page opens in the browser on your phone. There is nothing to log in to and no password to remember.
Step 3
The shopping list is already worked out
At the top of the page is everything you need for the whole week, gathered in one list. The items are sorted by where they sit in the shop: fruit and vegetables first, then bread, dairy, meat and fish, frozen and dry goods last.
You tick things off as you shop. The ticks are remembered even if you lock your phone or leave the browser in the middle of the shop.
If you would rather have it on paper, the page is built to be printed, with large type and tick boxes.
Step 4
The recipes tell you exactly what to do
Each step is one action, with a time and a temperature. Not «fry until done», but «fry over medium heat for 8 minutes». And then it says how you know it is ready.
Most dinners take under 40 minutes. Breakfast and lunch are simpler, and tend to repeat through the week, which is how most people eat.
Step 5
Once a month I ask about your weight
You get a message where you can step on the scales and type in the number. One field and one button, and nothing to log in to.
This is entirely voluntary. If you answer, Henriette takes the trend into account when she plans the coming weeks. If you do not, the meal plans arrive as before.
